Adding a Little Spring Décor

With the long harsh winter nearly over, I am excited about the wonders of spring. I can’t wait to unpack my spring wardrobe from storage. I’m also looking forward to spending some time outdoors in my flower garden. However, before I venture outdoors, I need to give the inside of my home some attention by adding a little spring décor. During this time of year, I decorate my home with pastel, bright hues. For instance, I like to fill white dainty teacups with beautiful artificial flowers. I also like to display whimsical items such as a multicolored Easter bunny. On this blog, you will learn how to transform the interior of your home this spring.

Hardwood Is Great For Bathroom Floors

by Melinda Collins

Hardwood flooring is popular in bathroom settings for interior decorators who want a more natural look. You definitely need to choose the right type of hardwood with a durable, clear-coat finish. Hardwood in the bathroom, much like tile or stone, you will need to be sealed every once in a while, but the overall maintenance is usually easier. You might need to reseal your hardwood every five years. You can actually use this as an opportunity to restain your hardwood a different color. Many people like hardwood for the very fact that they can change the finish whenever they want. This article explains the perks of using hardwood in a bathroom.

Hardwood is Easy to Clean

Most people assume that a tile floor will be more durable and easier to maintain than a wood floor. But, this is not true if you choose the right type of wood flooring. In fact, ceramic and porcelain tiles are waterproof, but the grout lines are not. This means that the floor needs to be sealed every few years to protect against water damage, no matter how waterproof the actual tile pieces are.

Many hardwood products have a laminated (not to be confused with laminate flooring, which isn't made out of wood, but often has fake wood prints) with a clear coat finish. This coat makes the wood waterproof. In fact, you will never touch the actual wood because the thin protective layer. However, this layer is very thing and hardly noticeable. If you choose a raw hardwood that needs to be stained and oiled, you will need to undertake more regular maintenance. The key is to make sure you choose a type of hardwood that will be easy to maintain and waterproof.

Hardwood is Stylish

Most people love hardwood flooring because of its natural style. While hardwood is very common in rooms and hallways, it is not commonly used in bathrooms. However, it will look great in any bathroom. It looks even better if you create a continuous run of your hardwood, from the hallways into the bathroom. This way there will be no seams and the look will be cohesive.

Hardwood might not be the first material that comes to mind when shopping for bathroom flooring. Most interior decorators think of tile or linoleum first. But, hardwood is actually very durable, easy to clean, affordable and stylish, so it is a great choice for most projects.
