Adding a Little Spring Décor

With the long harsh winter nearly over, I am excited about the wonders of spring. I can’t wait to unpack my spring wardrobe from storage. I’m also looking forward to spending some time outdoors in my flower garden. However, before I venture outdoors, I need to give the inside of my home some attention by adding a little spring décor. During this time of year, I decorate my home with pastel, bright hues. For instance, I like to fill white dainty teacups with beautiful artificial flowers. I also like to display whimsical items such as a multicolored Easter bunny. On this blog, you will learn how to transform the interior of your home this spring.

Three Benefits Of Sheer Shades

by Melinda Collins

When you shop for window shades for one of the rooms of your home, one of the first things that you'll likely think about is what color you want the shades to be. While there are advantages of dark shades, it can also be useful to consider the merits of those that are lighter — both in color and thickness. Sheer shades, which are very thin, are available at most stores that specialize in home furnishings. They're sold in several different sizes, making it easy to find a size that will suit your windows. Here are some benefits of using sheer shades.

Brightness

Some people love natural light and don't necessarily want to block all of it out with their window shades. If you're of this mindset, sheer shades are a good option for you. They're so light and thin that they allow a lot of natural light to flow into the room. You won't get the same bright glares in the room as when the window doesn't have any shades, however. Instead, you'll enjoy enough brightness at many times of the day that you don't need to think about turning a ceiling or table light on.

Privacy

Dark shades provide the best level of privacy, but if you don't like dark hues in a particular room, you might struggle with how to proceed. It's worthwhile to consider sheer shades. They're still semi-transparent, but they often provide more privacy than you might realize. For example, if you have them on the front of the house, someone who walks past may be able to faintly see into the residence, but not nearly in the same manner as if you had no shades. For rooms in which a bit of privacy is nice, but you still want a lot of light to enter, sheer shades are suitable.

Easy Match

Sheer shades can also be a good choice because they're easy to match in many rooms of your home. This material doesn't overly stand out visually, which means that your shades will likely work well regardless of the color of your walls, flooring, and furniture. When you decide to repaint the room or change the furniture in the future, there's a good chance that the sheer shades will match the room's new look. The same isn't necessarily true when you choose a bolder shade color. Visit a local or online window shades retailer to shop for sheer shades.
