About Me

Adding a Little Spring Décor

With the long harsh winter nearly over, I am excited about the wonders of spring. I can’t wait to unpack my spring wardrobe from storage. I’m also looking forward to spending some time outdoors in my flower garden. However, before I venture outdoors, I need to give the inside of my home some attention by adding a little spring décor. During this time of year, I decorate my home with pastel, bright hues. For instance, I like to fill white dainty teacups with beautiful artificial flowers. I also like to display whimsical items such as a multicolored Easter bunny. On this blog, you will learn how to transform the interior of your home this spring.

Making Your Kitchen Work With A Renovation Or Redesign

by Melinda Collins

The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in your home. You cook a meal in it, entertain in it, and many people start and end the day there. If your kitchen does not work for you, it might be time to renovate it and make it work better. One way to do that is to completely redesign the room to make it better fit your lifestyle.

Getting A New Design

Hiring a kitchen designer or interior designer to help you figure out what will better work in your kitchen is a great way to start any renovation. The flow of the kitchen needs to fit your needs and working with someone who understand the best way to do that can be a huge help. Once you have the layout figured out, it is a good idea to have an architect create a blueprint for the new room design. The architect can create the drawing and make sure that it is structural sound so the contractor you hire will be able to work from it without concern.

Picking New Cabinets

If you are redesigning the kitchen, cabinets are a great place to start. The old layout and design may no longer work and the cabinets that are in the kitchen may not fit anymore. Replacing them with new cabinets makes it easy for the contractor to create the cabinet design that you have on paper in your home. He can order cabinets that fit specifically and it will give you the option to lay them out and add specialty organizers for pots and pans or maybe put on an island where there wasn't one.

Countertops and Backsplashes

The countertops are the next thing to address. This is the time when you can choose a countertop that has the look and feel you want for your new kitchen. If you have had a color or style in mind but it didn't work in the old kitchen, now is the time to make that change. You can choose your color and style that match the finish of the cabinets to work with the countertop. If you worked with a designer to create the look and feel of the room, incorporating all of the elements to together can really make the room stand out from the crowd.

Time For Appliances

You may not think you need new appliances but if you are redesigning the room, the old appliances may no longer work with the design. This is an opportunity to get the new style and colors you want with any special features that make your life easier. You might want to upgrade to a side by side refrigerator or change the stove and go with a gas range. This is the time to make these changes. Picking the colors and styles can be a lot of fun and when the room is complete, you will be glad you took the time to appliances that accent the new design.
